Kinetic Art Build

Notes of inspiration:
Check out this link from Syd and Toni. The parts we have are very different. We have some black rods from a gazebo that Hayden found, however, they may be well suited for a giraffe...and there is a little story about why I would choose  a giraffe if it works out...

What I Am Sharing for Art Today

I read about an ART show,
that was coming up SOon,
with a FLOWer theme,
so I took a picture of a peONy in my garden.
I had been WANTing to try painting
on a WINdow screen,
and decided to TRY it out.
It would be FUN
to do a series of FlOWers.

What I did for Art today

Sooo busy working on new paintings the last few weeks that it is now time to update the computer part. In every newspaper that has it, I always read the section where they list the names of new babies. It's fascinating to study the combinations of names and spellings that people use. I made a sign recently for our niece's new little one and I realized that all the other signs I've done have been boy names. Anyway, it's something that I love to do for new little people-  here are some of the "new baby name" signs together. -

What I did for Art today...

Just finished this rolling ottoman project for Northwest Children's Theater. They needed it recovered for a play coming up so I volunteered to do the sewing/upholstery. It was a pretty fun project even though I have not done much upholstering for a few years now. Found a great shop for fabric covered buttons at The Whole 9 Yards. I used the previous cover as a pattern- lucky for me the Theater had picked out an overall pattern on the new fabric so I did not have to match stripes like before. This project inspired me to figure out what was wrong with my sewing machine- it turned out to be a bad bobbin case- so that now my old Kenmore sews a lot smoother. Yeah!

A few things done for art today! I did get the painting shown in my last blog (June 2011) into the show at the Oregon Society of Artists  Rose Festival show. I called it "Saturday Market Magic". It will be up for a few more weeks. (My first painting in a gallery and first opening since college.) Felt good to do something and get it in by the deadline instead of just "want to." Now I do want to enter more and I must get better about looking for shows and getting work in on time. This process inspired me to go to a few other art shows and to check out a bunch of art zines at the library. Special thanks to Jackie at West Slope Library!

This magic lady is a collage combining photo with gimp and Fotoflexer design programs. Fun to do!  Now to decide what to do next...link to a place where one could order prints of it? Which link?...there are so many. I have heard good and bad about a few of them. Any ideas of websites that artists are happy with? Free to post would be good too...

This is another "baby" name sign I did. Forgive the background- I didn't get it cropped out. I have another sign with the name Jakub...just can't find the photo I tok of it. I need to organize my photos on the computer and move them into folders grouped by date/project.

If you are reading this, I hope you are having fun with your own art. It really saves my soul sometimes.
